I get quite a bit of email from people who visit HeadShaver.org, and I often get a number of interesting suggestions about shaving from them. Some of that information is integrated into the regular articles on the site, but occasionally I get stuff that I can't fit in somewhere else, so I thought I'd share it here.
This batch of email includes some suggestions for razor bumps, a better shine, and closer shaving.
One of the more common problems that I get asked about is razor bumps. Dave shares his method with us:

comment: I found a solution that seems to work for me. I had pretty bad bumps on the back of my head. I found a routine that got rid of my bumps and keeps them off.
1. Keep my head shaved with clippers only, never a razor (haircut at least once a week)
2. After I shower and right before I go to bed, I apply witch hazel to the back of my head with a cotton ball.
3. After the witch hazel dries, I apply Bump Patrol.
4. When the Bump Patrol dries, I apply High Time Bump Stopper 2 (extra strength).
After I began this routine, 80% of the bumps were gone in about two weeks. The rest eventually faded out in a couple more. Occasionally, I'll get a bump or two but, that's way better than what I had before. Hope this helps others.
Sometimes people are looking for a better shine on their scalp. To add to the advice on my
shine page, Jorge offers the following:

comment: I just want to add a tip that alot of men will apreciate after shaving. For a nice long lasting shine on head i recommend hair pomade, either dax, murrays or royal crown, they make a head stand out more,i've been doing for quite a while now and people do notice.
Another thing everyone seems to be searching for is the closest shave possible. The following anonymous suggestion might work for some of you.
I tried something this week that is working out real well for me... kind of a dry shave if you will.
I'm sure you have noticed how your head feels tight after you have shaved your head, or taken a shower. It's at that point that I feel places on my head that still has some stubble, stubble I couldn't feel while my head was wet when shaving.
What I have been doing is, after taking a shower, I let my head get completely dry, until it gets that tight feel to it. I apply 5 drops of my shaving oil to my dry head, and run a moist finger across the pad on the Quattro. I shave my entire head without ever rinsing the razor, just moisten the pads on the razor from time to time... what a great shave!!!
I usually have stubble within an hour or two after shaving, which drives me crazy. I'm now going 5 or 6 hours before I start feeling any.
Just thought I would share.
The following anonymous suggestion combines technique with a product that I haven't tried:
A new discovery: Clearly, the best time to shave is when one's hair folicles are heated, same principle with shaving the face. Keeping such in mind, I got a really rather nice shave through using Conair's hot shaving cream unit.
Next to shaving in the shower (when I use a brush and shaving cream) it does seem to be the next best bet for me, alongside very hot water, of course.
